Association of the Tourism, Gastronomy and Cultural Hub of Santa Teresa

AmeSanta

AmeSanta (Association of Entrepreneurs and Friends of Santa Teresa) was founded in 2015 through the Polos do Rio Program, an initiative of the City of Rio de Janeiro created to value the economic, cultural and territorial characteristics of the city’s different regions while encouraging the organization, revitalization and development of local hubs.

Since 2016, with support from Sebrae, local business owners have taken part in training led by specialist consultants and built strategic ties with producers from the state of Rio de Janeiro, including organic farmers and producers of seafood, craft cachaça and specialty beers. This connection generated themed events and practical initiatives in which producers shared training, presentations and experiences with local businesses, strengthening supply chains, innovation and territorial identity.

Over more than 10 years of work, AmeSanta has built a positive agenda for Santa Teresa, promoted innovation, strengthened collective action and expanded dialogue with the public sector. Its work has contributed to better urban care, greater attention to the neighbourhood and recognition of Santa Teresa as a tourism, gastronomy and cultural destination in Rio de Janeiro.

AmeSanta brings together bars, restaurants, inns, hotels, shops, studios, galleries, cultural producers and service companies with the following goals:

AmeSanta creates, organizes and coordinates events that bring together gastronomy, culture, tourism and art, strengthening the neighbourhood’s annual calendar:

Cervejeresa — Specialty Beer Festival

An event connecting craft breweries with bars and restaurants in Santa Teresa through food pairings, cultural programming and experiences that showcase producers from the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Santa na Mesa — Gastronomy Festival

A festival held around occasions such as Holy Week and Saint George’s Day, bringing local restaurants and bars together with exclusive menus, cultural attractions and sensory experiences connected to local gastronomy.

Santa Teresa Winter Festival

An event that brings the neighbourhood to life in winter with gastronomy, music, art, studios, shops and cultural experiences, encouraging people to explore the area.

Primavera de Teresa

A celebration of the season and Santa Teresa’s anniversary, with a diverse program of gastronomy, music, cultural activities, children’s programming and outdoor experiences.

FAUST — Santa Teresa Urban Art Festival

Created and organized by AmeSanta, this event turns the neighbourhood into an open-air gallery through urban art interventions including graffiti, tilework, mosaics and collage. FAUST connects contemporary art, historical heritage and public space, reinforcing Santa Teresa’s artistic vocation.

Cultura de Santa Teresa

Supporting Local Art, Culture and Artists

AmeSanta continuously supports art and culture, recognizing artistic life as one of Santa Teresa’s defining historical characteristics.

The association prioritizes hiring and partnering with local artists for its events, projects and cultural initiatives, strengthening the neighbourhood’s creative economy and valuing the people who live and create in Santa Teresa.

AmeSanta also supports established artistic initiatives in the neighbourhood, such as Arte de Portas Abertas, the traditional event that opens studios and creative spaces to the public and brings artists and visitors together. This work is directly connected with FAUST, broadening the reach of art throughout the area and reinforcing Santa Teresa as an artistic hub.
