Armazém São Joaquim

Built in 1854 on Largo do Guimarães, the warehouse served its purpose for 150 years. The building, made of hand-cut stone, stucco and wood, is genuinely part of the folklore of Santa Teresa. It was photographed many times by the celebrated photographer Augusto Malta to portray the neighbourhood, painted by several renowned artists such as Emeric Marcier and Inimá de Paula, and it appears whenever the famous square it stands on is photographed, as a symbol of Santa Teresa. With all our love and care, our house has been fully restored, preserving the essence of the old warehouse but with a contemporary touch. The welcoming atmosphere of a historic house meets the creativity of a guesthouse, café/ice cream parlour, restaurant, bar and live music, making a must-visit destination for lovers of Rio de Janeiro, of Brazil, and visitors from all over the world.
