Bar do Mineiro

The almost small-town feel of Bar do Mineiro sits against the usual bustle of young people fighting for every inch of pavement out front, washing down their conversations with beers and caipirinhas made with the best cachaças from Minas Gerais. The traditional ginger batida, with a reputation as an aphrodisiac, is also a hit with the regulars. The food is a chapter of its own. The Feijoada do Mineiro, available on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, comes in a light or full version, served with rice, farofa, pork crackling, orange and sautéed collard greens. The genuine mini bean pastéis, the house signature, and the Minas sausage with onions make for unmissable snacks while you wait for dishes such as Tutu à Mineira, Feijão Tropeiro, Galinha ao Molho Pardo and oxtail with potatoes and watercress. Always with a stupidly cold beer alongside.
